Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Review

This haul all started on a day about a week ago when I decided that I wanted to switch from ORS back to Shea Moisture hair products. As if someone above heard my answers, Shea Moisture tweeted about a BOGO sale on all of their products at Walgreens that was ending that day. Without hesitation I hopped in the car and headed to see what my purchases for the day would be.

Once in store, I took a little bit of time to pick the best “system” out of all the ones that Shea Moisture offers. They each feature most of the same things (a shampoo, a conditioner, a deep conditioning treatment, a serum ,etc), but each have a different purpose. Some are for enhancing curls, some are for fighting frizz, some are for dry hair. After much deliberation, I chose the new Jamaican Black Castor Oil system that I’d been hearing rave reviews about! It’s focus is to “strengthen, grow, and restore” and is great for natural hair (or relaxed) that uses heat (me!) or color. They didn’t have the shampoo or regular conditioner available there, so I purchased the Yucca & Plantain system for those (will review those later) and purchased these items from the Jamaican Black Castor Oil system:

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Review

This is a creamy leave-in conditioner that makes my hair feel super soft and moisturized! It fights breakage which is great for when I’m wearing a ponytail or bun that may tug my hair a tad during styling. It has peppermint oil that not only smells great but also makes your scalp feel really refreshed!

This deep conditioner worked so much better for me than the one from Shea Moisture’s Raw system, so I guess it really is about figuring out which line works best for YOUR hair and its needs. It went on smooth (not clunky) and made my hair feel like silk after about an hour of DC without heat. If you use heat it’ll only take about 15 mins. It also made my hair really shiny which is great because it’s kind of dry naturally due to my 4C pattern.

For my buns, edge control is a must to give me the slick look I want. This edge control gel does way more than the Silk Elements I previously used! It not only slicks your edges but it really is formulated to strengthen them and promote growth. And we all know how important our edges are.

Say bye-bye to that Luster’s Pink Lotion that your mom used to use on your hair. This is what I use as a daily moisturizer for my hair. Just a small amount goes a long way. It’s also great to use on your hair before you blow-dry as a heat protector!

Overall I really love these products so far! I know it’s only been a week but trust me, my hair lets me know what it does and doesn’t like, almost instantly!

Have you tried Shea Moisture? What are your favorite products for their line?

You can now purchase everything directly from the Shea Moisture website, but also be sure to check Walgreens and Amazon for deals first!
